MY GREAT BABIES ‘R’ US EXPERIENCE

September 13, 2017 Eric 1 Comment

A little while ago I shared an image that I all too often see in many stores I go to while shopping for all different kinds of things.  It was a shelf in Babies ‘R’ Us where the gripe water is stocked.  I needed the regular kind as well as the nighttime formula, but the nighttime space was completely empty.  When I first saw that fateful void I immediately started checking the labels next to it to be sure the product I was after was indeed not in stock.

I confirmed that the product wasn’t their and reluctantly asked one of the staff if there were more in the back.  The answer was a predictable ‘no’, but she did check the system for me which is a courtesy I am not afforded too often. She also offered to locate it at another store, which is not unusual, but I don’t take anything for granted anymore when it comes to service.  Here is where my experience at this store shot way above my usual expectations.  I was purchasing the gripe water that I had found and she told the cashier to call the other store and have them honor the buy one get one half off deal.  I was surprised and impressed by that, but then she went a step further, giving me the half off of the item I was purchasing there.

I was really grateful for that.  It wasn’t expected at all and it was an amazing gesture as I had not yet met the requirement for the BOGO deal.  I technically could have just gone home after that with my half off gripe water, which I wouldn’t do, but it was the end of a long day of driving and a series of disappointments.  That’s one of the reasons this interaction meant so much to me.  I went to the store they directed me too and got what I was looking for.  The service there was really good too.  So, I went home with a very high opinion of Babies ‘R’ Us and Toys ‘R’ Us.

Have you had any favorable experiences like this at a retailer recently that made your day?  Tell me about it.

It wasn’t at a baby store but I went to CVS to get the BOGO 1/2 off sleep aid and of course they only had one. I asked for them to check they did and they didn’t have any and I didnt want to run around so they gave me that one bottle for half off so I was quite happy because they didn’t have to do that for me. So that is my happy.
