I GOT TO BABYSIT MY BABIES!

September 4, 2017 Eric 1 Comment

Sara had a last minute engagement that she had to attend last week and we didn’t have time to arrange for anybody else to watch the twins, so I took the afternoon off from work to be with them and we had an amazing time. Sometimes they can be screaming and inconsolable and I was prepared for a lot of that, but they were totally quiet and let me do a little bit of work and some clean up around the house.  I changed and fed them without incident, and I docked them next tome to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.  It was great!  The time with the babies, that is.  not the movie.  Lawson slept through it, but Gwendolyn stayed awake and kept me company.

It was a really nice time for the three of us especially following such gas and constipation issues.  Gwendolyn would go for long stretches without a dirty diaper and then suddenly–BLOW OUT!  Just the previous night she had poop gushing out and smeared on her body, soaking through her cute little onesie. This had happened before after a long stretch of not being able to poop. It was gag inducing and very difficult to clean up. we threw an impromptu bath party after that and she came out nice and clean.  She likes baths unlike her brother.

Now everybody’s regular.  they poop a lot more than I’m used to which led to another incident with the Diaper Genie in our upstairs nursery.  Sara took out the liner when it filled up.  If your not familiar with Diaper Genies, the liner gets cut off by a blade under the lid and you pull more liner from this ring stashed in the lid.  you tie it off and it becomes a casing to make another diaper sausage with it.  Well, she forgot to pull the liner out for the next batch of diapers, so after many mid nights of groggily feeding and soothing our screaming, pooping twins, we found that we were left with a Diaper Genie full of plump, soggy diapers with no protective liner.  I got to reach in and put each dirty diaper into a bag.  Luckily the diaper Genie was unscathed.

I had such a great time with Gwendolyn and Lawson all to myself.  The movie was pretty cool.  I have a lot of talking points on it.  Be on the lookout for that review soon.

Sounds like you did a great job. Enjoy them now, you will turn around twice and they will be wanting the keys to the car. My son is grown with 4 children of his own, but he is still my sweet baby boy.
