DRIVER WITHOUT A CAR!

October 9, 2017 Eric 1 Comment

I jumped in the car the other day to make a quick trip to the post office and mail some packages.  The car  had different plans.  It’s been a little over a year since the Versa caught fire on my way home from work.  I quickly settled on what we thought was a good deal for a car that is more appropriate for raising kids.  The Dodge Journey we found at Carmax seemed to have everything we wanted in a car.  Well, truthfully I wanted a Mustang.  Always have.  But this was good too.

The only problem is the bloody thing is garbage.  The power keeps going out.  I had… Okay, funny story:

I was out on a workday trying to drum up business for our commercial lines when a snow storm overtook the region.  I was on my way back to the office the first time my Journey died on me.  The electricity just shut off.  I had to have it towed to Sears.  They got it running and told me the battery was weak but I was there a few hours.  The better part of the day.  I trudged through the white parking lot to the mall, where everyone was closing shop.  To my surprise thy had an Amazon store.  Even more to my Surprise they had the NES Classic Edition and were only letting in people who were their to buy the console.  The same console that was selling for hundreds of dollars on Ebay.  The console you could not get anywhere, that people camped out in lines to get.  I somehow had stumbled upon it, because of a sudden electrical failure in my car.  So, yeah I bought that.

But the recent malfunctions since have not yielded the same serendipitous results.  It happened to me again the night Sara and Gwendolyn were released from the hospital. and since has delayed our weekend excursions.  I took it to Carmax back in July while I was staying at the hospital and they found nothing wrong,  I purchased a trickle charger and that does nothing.  Hopefully, this is the last time.  I have already purchased two new batteries.  The car is at a real mechanic, so I really hope they will find the specific cause of these failures and put a halt to them without costing too much.

That time at the hospital I needed to get it towed was a trip, too.  One of the many experiences I had while I was basically living there, taking care of Lawson.  As of now I am housebound.  When we need something, Sara goes to get it and I stay with the babies.  It’s a total reversal and it feels very strange.  More on this past weekend soon.
