LAWSON IS A BABY TEENAGER

December 20, 2017 Eric 3 Comments

Lawson is growing up fast, but I had no idea the sort of hormonal changes he’d be going through.  He has always looked a little older.  his face sometimes seems more like the face of a toddler than that of a baby.  But lately he’s taken on characteristics more commonly attributed to a teen.  He’s moody as all get out, he doesn’t listen to his parents, and he’s got pimples.  Pimples!

I did some searching on if this kind of thing happens and what might be the cause.  If any of you are familiar with trying to get answers online about anything remotely medical having to do with your baby you’ll understand my frustration.

First of all the word pimple or zit is all to often used interchangeably with rash.  Almost all the information I found gets called into question because the explanations all seem to convert the topic of pimples into a problem with rashes.  One article seemed to attribute breakouts to their baby’s face rubbing in drool during tummy time.  Lawson does do this, so I thought they might be on to something, but then the article became about eczema.

This was a recurring problem on all the sites I searched.  Lawson has a legit zit on his face and rather than find out that this happens and… blah, blah, blah.  I’m finding that all the information that should be relevant, pertaining to my search, isn’t.  There is another possible explanation and it could have to do with hormones in breast milk.  Lawson still drinks breast milk exclusively and it’s possible that hormones in the milk are affecting him and causing him to break out.  But the only place I have found mention of this was not about acne, but rather baby pubic hair.  So far, we have not discovered this to be a symptom of our 5 month old’s faux adolescence, but who know’s what tomorrow will bring.

I have to say, it’s been a while since I tried to find answers like this online and it is really frustrating.  I used to go seeking information all the time when Sara was pregnant and the internet was just this huge wishy-washy sea of uncertainty.  It is so hard to get real answers, even directly from a doctor.  For some reason when you need to look something up that might be medical, it’s practically impossible to get real factual information.  I have only encountered this issue dealing with these types of situations.  I tried Web MD, because it’s Web MD, and they didn’t have anything either.

So Lawson gets zits now.  Not like the newborn acne, like real zits.  It’s apparently not a normal thing, or I’m guessing there’d be more people talking about it.  At least he’s not awkward around girls… but that’s another story!

I wonder if there is something Sara is eating that Lawson is allergic to as what she eats comes through the breast milk.

Have you tried aveeno for baby eczema? Our daughter had breakouts and different rashes and dry spots on her face. Not real pimples though, but that cream seem to solve the problem and her face is clear again. You can buy a small round container of it for $3 at Walmart if you want to try it.

We actually have that for Gwendolyn’s eczema. It works great for that.
