I am so proud of my babies. They are tons of fun to be around. They can be a bit much, like today, when all they wanted was constant attention, but they are so great. The babble and make silly noises all the time now. Feeding them solid food is so fun. Gwendolyn is surprisingly neat, though she sometimes blows when she chomps down and sprays yams in my face. I laugh, and then she smiles at me and does it again. Lawson used to be harder to feed, but he has really come around. They’ve had yams, prunes, and (as of the Super Bowl) avocado.
Gwendolyn loves to eat. She is our little foodie. Their big personalities are really starting to develop, but we are learning not to judge too quickly. We had Gwendolyn pegged as the artistic one, but Lawson seems to have a knack for painting, now. For Christmas we bought Gwendolyn a toy keyboard and Lawson a toy globe. Imagine our surprise when they swapped toys. Today Lawson was playing the keyboard more than ever.
We know that Gwendolyn is the quiet one, though originally we thought the opposite about that, too. Lawson is a flirt and he loves to model. Based on her looks, we both thought Gwendolyn was a natural model, but she is a lot less interested. Even though she is not as inclined to play the keyboard, we know that she loves music. She is also terribly sweet. More sweet than you can imagine, and though she doesn’t always cooperate for the camera, she is very genuine.
She is no longer drinking the hypoallergenic formula we had her on and she is doing a great job sleeping through the night. She wakes up a couple of times, but quickly puts herself back to sleep. It feels like so long ago that we struggled with her crying at night. I can’t believe the reason was that we coddled her to much. The only issue now is that she suddenly doesn’t want to go to bed at the usual time anymore, She will scream at bed time and I will need to lull her by holding her in my arms until she gets sleepy. She is also very resistant to afternoon naps. I’m afraid she inherited that from both her mother and I. Lawson sleeps straight through the night until I wake him in the morning.
They are moving around a lot more and we let them roam around the floor, but we have to get used to their increasing mobility. We can’t turn our backs anymore, or leave the room and expect them to be more, or less where we left them. They grab at cords now, too which is something we never had to worry about. It is definitely time to rig up our home with child proofing devices.
It’s an exciting time. The twins just keep growing and learning. I can’t wait to see what they do next!
